How comparing travel insurance works here
Answer five questions about your trip and yourself. We price single-trip plans from each insurer on our panel and list them from the lowest premium up, with the three benefits that differ most between plans.
When you pick a plan, you finish buying on the insurer's own site. Your answers go with you, so you do not type them again. The insurer collects payment and issues the policy.
Before you choose
- Medical cover overseas matters most. Treatment in Japan, Europe or the United States can cost tens of thousands of dollars.
- Trip cancellation pays back what you cannot recover if you have to cancel for a reason the policy covers, such as illness or a death in the family.
- Pre-existing conditions are usually excluded unless you declare them and the insurer accepts them.
Questions people ask
When should I buy travel insurance?
As soon as you book. Trip cancellation cover only helps if the policy is in place before something goes wrong.
Does age change the price?
Yes. The price is set by your age on the day you leave. Some insurers stop covering travellers above 75, 80 or 85.
What counts as one trip?
One departure from Singapore and one return. Most insurers here cover a single trip of up to 90 or 182 days.
